I passed my am2 and nvq3 in march last year after doing an apprentiship with jtl. Just wondering if I can apply for my jib card at any time as I haven't applied yet. Is there any time limit to getting my card.

download the application form, get your 'employer to sign section 10 and your photograph, and get on with it son.

I got my JIB Electricians card in 1978 when I finished my apprenticeship and my Approved card in 1983. Have worked for myself since 1984 so have not had anything to do with JIB since '83. I now can't find my card so wondered how I can get a new one if I don't work for a JIB company. Any one know how to get new card ?

The reason why I've put it off is because my boss was going to lay me off because he didn't have enough work if I was qualified as I'm still on stage 4 apprentice wage.

If you have all your other certs i.e, 2330, 17th ed etc, then the only limiting factor you are faced with is that the health & safety part of the NVQ3 that exempts you from doing the ECS test is only valid for 5 years.

After this you will have to do the ECS test in order to prove your competance in health & safety. As you only did it in March last year you will be fine to apply now and any time up to march 2016 ish, although I would recommend doing it a lot sooner.

If you had one before, you'll be able to get one now.

The only thing you may have to do is the ECS test in order to prove your competance in health & safety.

How do I get a ECS certifcate ? Also CSCS cards, how do you get them ?
