JIB Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) JIB Gold Card

Hi all,

How do I go about getting a JIB Gold Card?
I have the following qualifications:
NVQ Levels 2 & 3
AM2
17th Edition

Do I need any other qualifications? ie health and safety etc etc

Have asked a few people and getting different opinions.

Pls help.

Do you have a level 3 core qualification ie - 2330 L3, 2365 L3?

Go to the JIB website, download the application form, print it out, fill it in, send it to the jib.
Whilst you are on their website you could have a look at the criteria for each grade to see what you qualifications you need.

Read Davessparks reply.

You will be able to get a gold card with the quals you have.

For gold card you need, NVQ3, A Level 3 core qualification ie 2330 L3, and the AM2

Be aware the level 3 technical certificate is not the same as an NVQ3.
Apart from that you'll need to sit an ECS health & safety test, which isn't difficult at all.

Although I know someone that admitted to failing it 3 times!

If I'd failed it 3 times I wouldn't admit to it.

If you have completed the nvq3 you are exempt for 5 years and don't have to sit the ecs test.

Lol phone the JIB. I have been trying to get in touch with them mofos for a while and i never have any luck!

Its easy, if you haven't got an nvq3 you aren't getting a gold card unless you completed your apprenticeship before the nvq3 come in to place which I think was 1999.

I thought it was 3 years.

No,it's 5 years as I conpleted my 2356 within the last 5 years and if you look T the guidance notes it says 5 years for NVQ. I applied for my JIB card in January and it came through a week or so ago, they sent me a gold approved electrician card which is good as that's what I asked for.

Has the requirement to hold a normal gold card for 3 years before being eligible for Approved grade gone out the window then?

They told me 2 years to wait from Electrician gold card to Approved electrician gold card status which I thought was strange as its renewed every 3 as well as needing 2391
the NVQ 3 is a requierment and technical cert you dont need AM2 if your Adult learner only apprentice's need that
NVQ lv3 exempts you for 5 years

I read what it said on the jib site on the requirements, and it didn't mention anything from what I recall.

im a cowboy and they gave me one, I guess they must have as I have never had s card before, I put a shed load of references in with my application and about 50 testimonials from customers, all my quals and anuthing not even relevant, plus I wasted a whole day faffing around in word laying out the wording on the screen so I could over print it on o the application form so everything was typed in and not hand written, I have to say I wish I had a typewriter at that point!
