Recently I keep getting asked about LED GU10s, and I don't know if they are any good, I have heard they aren't, but don't really know enough to recommend or not.

If I were to swap 8 x 50W GU10s with the LED equivalent would they be as bright, and how long do they last? and is the quality of the light the same?

Would like to know if anyone has used them as sole source of lighting in a kitchen for example

I got a 5w LED eyelite lamp from EDs and it's the equivalent of a 40w GU10 and in warm white gives the same colour output as a normal incandescent lamp oh and it's dimmerbale. £12-13 each though plus VAT

I've stayed away from LED lamps mainly because I thought they wouldn't give off adequate light.

Going to give them a go from what you lads have said here! Afterall they seem to be the future!!

Philips do a GU10 LED lamp called the Master.. Its the bee's knees! Dimmable and everything. Lasts 50,000 hours I think and saves £142 a lamp over its life. Costs me £24 plus VAT a lamp at the mo but they are Fit and Forget!
