Lighting Fault.

Hello,
I have been asked to look at a light fitting for a neighbour, who has said that whenever he puts a new lamp in the fitting it blows straight away. The fitting is a ceiling rose/pendant and bayonett lamp. A quick check shows 50-60 volts from the fitting live to earth when switched off. I will have a proper look when time allows. It has worked in the past i'm told. Any thoughts or similar faults experienced. Thanks.

Test the circuit. See if anything has been done recently that could have damaged a cable.

fairly simple find the fault rectify test and charge them should be ok

Sounds like fault voltage is on the earth, check to see if a light has been changed recently or a switch and there could be a possible loose earth or neutral conductor.
