Looking for advice on pricing for PAT testing

I have just joined this forum I am leaving the military and have qualified as a Portable Appliance Tester and was wondering what i should charge.

people are out there knocking them out for about 30 pence an item. There is hardly any money in it.

Consider between £1-£2 to be making a living off it & doing properly. Id also consider a minimum charge say £50-£60. And consider a lower rate for more items. Good luck

Won't even check the fuse could be a kitkat (other foil wrapped chocolate biscuits are available) wrapper for all they care!

Even at £1 an item I don't see how any one could make a living, run a vehicle, advertise , pay insurances etc.

Agreed you may get some sites which are profitable but these are few and far between. Big contracts are taken by the quantity counters who are constantly cutting each others throats to such an extent they can only make money by churning out huge daily quantities which can only mean one thing, the job isn't done correctly.
