Makita drill.

Has anyone used one of these and know if it's any good? Was thinking of getting the bare drill as have lots of makita 18v gear and batteries.

I like the fact It takes two 18v batteries in series and makes it a 36v and as I have 6x18v batteries it would make sense.

i havent tried the 36v version.

the 18v is nearly on par with the bosch 36v with regards to power (battery lasts half as long)

if i recall the makita is slightly bigger than the bosch. (i will get the 36v when it comes time to replace my 18v)

i have used the 18v for removing bricks etc to get a lintle in for a doorway and it went through easily, the bosch seems to have a slightly lower impact when chiselling.

the bosch was a lot older so it might be unfair of me to say the makita is more powerful as it might be weaker because of its age (wear and tear)

ill take some pictures when im next in tw of it if you like? (they have bosch,dewalt,milwaukee and makita all on the shelf to pick up and get a feel)

I've got the latest bosch 18v ec brushless sds and it has more power than the non ec brushless, its has more power but is heavier than the makita lxt. Not tried the makita with 2 18v batterys

There aint much it wont drill through but they are a little heavy on the batterys so I would reccomend getting the 4ah batts for it!

not had any experience with the current generation of cordless drills, but have had earlier 24V bosch, hitachi, dewalt and, currently, makita 24V. the makita knocks all the rest into touch.

yup bl1850 easy to work out

BL = ??
18= 18v
50= 5ah

so 3ah is bl1830
so 4ah is bl1840
so 5ah is bl1850

seems the prices have dropped a little.

still expensive though (the 5ah cost more than my 458 drill was new body only)

except in the sds 3ah last long enough for me (i have 4 in drill box and thats more than enough in a day)

That makita looks good but if I am buying a 36v SDS it will be the Hilti one that I use on the Job im on atm for Crown House as they only use Hilti gear & the 36v drill is f***ing superb and drills through concrete with ease & even better when you put the Hoover attachment on it.
