Discuss Megger 1552 or 1710? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

ditto, 1552 does everything, excdept phase rotation, and it's that simple, even I can use it.

Got the 1552 myself. Only problem was the quality of the croc clip ends, they broke quite easily. NOTE I said broke as latest freebie set I got from Megger appear to be better made now.
As Tony mc says easy to use piece of equipment.

Cheers,
Lofty.

Always go for the best bit of kit you can afford. Never make the mistake of going cheap and regretting ever after.
Also if there are functions on a machine you will not use in your scope of work, then you won't need them, so you can go for a lower cost model in a range.... In other words check the spec's carefully and then buy sensibly!!

Neither because you know that after 3years and the warranty has run out it will die on you and all megger wants you to do is buy a new one .They are good but only when their working, I have had two and both have died so looking at Metrel MI3100 now.

THe Megger 1720 looks like the one to have. The 1710 doesn't have auto RCD. The 1730 stores and downloads results but I like my pencil ;-)

Theres loads of pictures and links to data sheets and even a megger sales rep demoing one on video on their facebook page

Theres a bit on the video where they show you its impossible to blow up (unlike the 1552 lol) looks pretty good if its true - fed up changing fuses on the old one.

"fed up changing fuses on the old one" .....stop blowing it up then !

been using the 1552 for a while and doing th epencil game meself. however ive started making my own test certs and emailing them and gettin customers to print them and ill sign them when i collect payment. saves on printing for me and knowones forging my awful signiture.

do you reckon its worth investing in the 1720 or 1730 or a metrel ? megger is all i know. trained with kewtechs and think there clumbsy and awful bit of kit.

also if anyone can help with ta cheap PAT tester? ive lowered myself to a few pat testing contracts to fill the gaps. whats the cheapest out there. need one with both 13amp plug and industrial plug for workshop?

thanks
