Silly Sausage

I recall biff55 really rating his that he got off ebay, fair play.
I got one years ago, seemed fine for a while, but then it wouldn't make loop measurements, kept coming up with the 'Noise' symbol and take an eternity to give a reading, if at all, which was basically a random number.
I've got a Fluke 1652 which measures fine on the same circuits.
Anyone else had this problem?
Anyone got a cheap solution or is it a 'in the bin' job?

Full story, I was running it with fully charged rechargeables, if that makes any difference.

It's worth trying the meter on alkaline batteries mate, as there appears to be anecdotal evidence that owners have experienced bizarre measurement behaviour with battery voltages below 7.5V and not unreasonably with rechargeable batteries in particular.
Does the tester show any error codes at switch on or during testing, E16 and/or E95 are commonly associated with loop test failures?

Ta Markie, I'll try it with alkaline batteries sometime.
It has never come up with any error codes, just the noise symbol. Works fine otherwise.

Not sure how reliable they are, I have one that will not carry out loop resistance tests as its overtemperature symbol is displayed. Megger wanted £266 +vat to repair. As a consequence it is in a cupboards unused and un repaired.
