Discuss MR16 LED Vs GU10 LED in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm not sure I fully understand your post, but to clarify. Moving to LED is background information. The relevant part is moving from MR16 to GU10.
The reason I say it's easier is when doing EICR on GU10 I simply remove bulbs and can complete all insulation resistance tests. But with MR16 I can only do Live conductors connected together and earth, unless I want to disconnect the transformers.

The reason for going for MR16 16 years ago was because I was told they give off a better light. But now I'm thinking I was suckered into "The Emperor's New Clothes"

In that case, I'm not sure I fully understand your OP. If your just replacing 'your' DL yo would only need to IR test once (some might not at all :)), whether it was LED or halogen.

For me the major benefit of LED lamps, is they are more economical to operate; although I have some halogen DL's in my kitchen, which I can't bring myself to replace, 'cos of the dimmer switch controlling them.

If you only have a few to replace, I wouldn't faff around with replacing leads etc, just buy a suitable replacement, like JCC, Inceptor or Haler. Granted, you might have to reconsider that in cases like Vitesse gave as an example.

GU-10 LED lights would be a better option than halogen lights, because these LED lights operate with an Excellent Heat Radiation Efficiency. This means that it does not waste any extra energy through heat, and will not heat up unlike Halogen Spotlights. GU10 LEDs also have an extremely quick response time, allowing it to light up quickly as soon as the switch is turned on, without any delay or flicker. This instant start technology makes these LEDs perfect for motion sensors, as they require lights to start instantly as they detect movement. So I guess GU10 takes the win!
