hello guys, any of you have dealings with cat6 terminations(RJ-45) and what sort of labelling do you/ have you used?

is the cat5 plug ok to use or do you need the cat6 modular units? does it make that much difference??

regards

Cat 6 cable is slightly bigger than Cat 5 because of the separator that runs down the middle to separate the 4 pairs.

Therefore Cat 6 plugs have a slightly bigger entry. You can use Cat 5 plugs but it can be a bit of a challenge getting the outer sheath under the crimp.

cat 6 is slightly thicker then cat 5e so you may have problems fitting the ends in (I have not so far).
However, cat5e connecters are not rated at the full 1gig speed and therefore the whole cable will not be rated at 1 gig (even if you actually achieve these speeds)
