Hi got my niceic domestic installer assessment in 10 days time with a guy called David bailey, just wondered if anyone had been assessed by him before and what he is like? Is there a certain topic he likes to cover?

thanks guys

Surely if you want to get the most out of your assessment you should be thinking about topics that you want to cover. If I were him I would be much more impressed by a chap who recognised areas where he wanted more knowledge and grilled me over them, rather than chatting about my own hobby horse subject. One colleague starts out with a list of stuff often of the form 'what is the NIC's policy on...' and tries to wring as much info out as possible, as very often it is better to get an answer from a man who's looking at the specific job rather than writing in with random questions.

oh, come on lecky, google david bailey.

If you know what you're doing and why you do it you'll ve fine.

Consider whether you are happy with the installs you are showing him and make sure you understand what you have done and why you have done it.

Consider whether you are happy that you understand the regs and you know where to look in the BGB if you are asked something which you cannot answer off the top of your head - there is nothing wrong with looking it up as long as you know where to look and why its important.

Consider how you inspect and test an installation, how you interperet the results, the order you do it and why its important.

As Lucien says, ask questions of him. Its supposed to be a two way thing where you prove you're competent and you clarify what they want and why - obviously within reason.

Don't try and pass by knowing the questions he'll ask and looking them up in advance - this is not the point of the exercise. Instead be confident in your knowledge.

If he asks something bizzare which doesnt make sense to you, tell him and ask him to explain.

Always make a big deal of safe isolation and safe working. Its important for a reason - to keep you and your customers alive.

he's probably too young to know who daivid bailey's mate, lord lichfield was. hesitate to mention douglas bader. ah, well, trhe ignorance of youth. ( and by ignorance, i don't mean thick, just lack of knowledge)/.
