Called out to a house where rcd is tripping, been going off over a period of weeks.
Did insulation test, got pretty good readings overall, except one circuit, which gave me a L/E,N/E reading of 0.40 meg ohms.
This was a sub main to a garage, found lighting to be at fault, disconnected.
Re did test ,all ok.
The rcd is upfront supplying 8way DB,later got a call back to say still tripping,so it can't be the lights in the garage.
Tried to explain the difficulties of finding exactly what it might be,but she's only interested in getting her lights in the garage back on ,it's gonna be one of those weeks I think.
Wondering if any of you, have had the same moarning,it's all your fault customers.

No all my Customers are heaven sent!!!

Did you test the RCD to see if it's tripping at the correct differential current?
Worth clamping the tails and checking what the actual leakage is when the installation is in use.

Yea did all the usual tests,& at 1/2 rated current it tripped, then tested all again & it didn't trip, but I did say to the customer it may need replacing.
A look of shock & amazement, & trying to do the best for her, said hopefully disconnecting the garage lights may have solved it.
My luck ran out ha ha .

At nearly half a Meg Im surprised it tripped my money is on something plugged in as well or with a up front RCD build up normal leakage (I know the word starts with a C but can I think of it no)
