See he got a pretty good slagging for it though :clapping: even the general public know it's not right.
 
I could see it possibly working with thick cable where the individual strands have quite good mechanical strength, but for finer low voltage cables the strands are so piddly they wouldn't have sufficient strength to achieve a good contact. Would be OK if you finished it with a good dollop of solder but wrapped and tape like that... I don't think so :)
 
Whoever thought that up is just a total Muppet. Scary thing is, there's an awful lot more muppets out there & they'll see that and copy it :eek::mad:.
