Discuss Old time test instruments. in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Lol, I still have analogue testers probably older than those that I use regularly in day to day testing. I don't even own one of those new fangled MFT type testers although I'll probably cave in one day and try one.

Took me a while to sus what MFT was didn't like to ask. Still using gear which is 15 to 20 years old. It ain't broke so I don't replace it.

hmm. it uploaded 2 pics, so i gtried to edit one out and it then became 3. bugger.

Best I have is an old AVO 8 in its case. I still use it every now and then but its a bit of a beast to lug around.

Two wires just what I like. Colleague of mine has a MFT and we had to call the fire brigade the other day to untangle him from the multitude of wires that come with it.

The electrician that taught me bought me one of those. I immediately blew it by putting it on a live circuit. He wasnt best pleased! He did tell me not to do that but callow youth I was..... Never saw it again after that. That was about 1975 I think. Have you really had it that long?

My Father was an electrician as well, and I remember his Avo meter. Used to fascinate me looking at it as a kid. I know a man who has a shed load of AVO's trying to get him to give me a spare one. Just for the shelf really.

my avo 8 mk vii is mint, just like it left the factory. calibration is overdue though, but i've checked it against my calibrated mft.
