it is bad practice you wouldn't do it in a fuse box as it would be extremely frustrating for testing.
another example is ceiling roses we have done it there saves alot of time (5secs) you know what i mean.
its not against any regs but just bad practice..

Just the other day I saw what was almost the opposite in a CU, where the cooker radials CPC went to the CPC bar via several earth sleevings! Presumably the installer didn't have any with the appropriate diameter to hand! Equally bad practice!

Worse than that, impossible to distribute the prospective fault current evenly, there really are some idiots around!

It really bugs me especially if the cpc's are twisted also.

Absolutely.

Fortunately they've just given me the go ahead to fit a new CU full of RCBO's so it'll be on my list to do properly.

Given the low cost of earth sleeving, there's only two reasons for that kind of practice.

Ignorance, and stupidity.

i avoid twisting them together as i think in the event of a fault arching may occur between cpcs as there is not a proper termination...

also very annoying when fault finding

totally agree wiv all comments,1970s the electricians always did it that way,1 green sleeving 4 all earths, working amongst them they still carried on doing it until retirement day, even though they were told not 2,also bending over cables for termination, they still didnt get that either,i could go on abit here, thankfully a new breed is let loose,& 20 years on someone will still be critising the way we r doin it !!Ta ra bab
