max force

Hello,

I have a Neff oven that today started tripping my electricity.
I ran some tests to try identify where the issue might be without much success. the fan turns on fine, at 150C everything works fine, the thermostat kicks in and out without problems. If I put the temp higher to 175/200C though, after a few minutes it trips everything out.

there's the oven switch with a red led light which I unscrewed to see if there's any sign of burnt there but seems fine.. not sure what could it be and how could I test it?

thanks a lot in advance for any pointers!

How long have you had the oven? where did you get it from? ant guarantees in force?

i'd make a guess that the element/s is breaking down when it gets hot. IR test it @500V and leave the tester on for a few minutes.

Hey Pete and telectrix, thanks for the help, the oven was in the flat when i bought it, probably been too long for any guarantees to still apply. I'd guess its some 10 years old, model is
Neff B1422N0GB

spar doing echo falls red @ £4.99. decent drop.

I'm waiting to borrow a multimeter to do the tests, so in the mean time I've removed the backpanel to see if there's anything dodgy with the element, it looks brand new and I can't see any defects or distortions.

so I tried again turning on the oven with the panel off and full power but didn't seem to do it anymore.
the interior of the backpanel itself had some odd circular marks though, look like burn marks but the element doesn't seem to reach those points so i don't know..

sorry for the dumb question but would i need to disconnect the element to do the IR test you mention or can I leave it on?

@BigSpark there's a normal wall switch exactly the same as this one

and the main rcd for the flat split in 2 circuits, one of which was getting triggered, like this:

the connectors on the element/s could be close to the casing but not quite touching. a bit of damp air is all you need then to trip a RCD. if it runs fine with the backplate off, then that's your problem.
