Panel wiring standards

Hi,
Are there any published standards for panel wiring, in particular colour codeing and the seperation of LV, and SELV.

Hi not sure about regs on this but if it helps a place I worked at built panels and I do remember that they used brown and blue trirated cables for ac and red and black for dc,probably someone here knows full spec but that much I do remember,hope it helps you.

Different places have their own preferences, but within the regs you are not allowed to use G/Y for anything other than Earthing, and Green (by itself) is not allowed, In general any DC should be a different colour from LV AC, This is assuming that all cables are marked Alpha/Numerically of course.

This is for LV panels, of course all Phases and Neutral are clearly identified, Earthing conductors have already been mentioned.

Yes, this is the standard for machinery & controls.


BS 7671 does touch on colour specification, table 51 page 116.
