Evening everyone, I have just received a job through to install a positive pressure fan in a council owned tenanted property, I would be interested to see what sort of prices people are charging, only that the price I quoted was accepted but with the usual comments from the Q.S. "A little expensive but as a one off would be acceptable" I've charged £240 labour, job to include removal of existing fan and install of new positive pressure fan and associated wiring (spur cable etc) is it just me or are certain customers expecting jobs doe for nothing these days?

cheers

In my opinion if the price was too much then you wouldn't have won the job. I suspect that the QS in question is just trying to get you to lower your prices next time so that he can look good in front of his boss.

But this is just my opinion

just don't let him try and con you into lowering your prices next time, he may pull the 'I helped you out last time by giving you the job despite the price being high' card!

£240 approximates a day's labour in my neck of the woods....

If you think the job will take you a day (or best part) then price is right.

If you think the job will take 2-3 hours then that's expensive.

Including materIals (and the fan) and the part p (if applicable) and the building control sign off through notification, all I can say is as a specialist I charge far more to HSA
