Discuss private low voltage supply in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

ok. whilst I have peoples attention il quiz sum more. when doing pir on older property how come they can still be passed if they conform to older regs? And how far does this go.. lighting without cpc etc

as if they had to be brought up to current regs then every bloody amendment would mean half the country getting there installation changed every 2-3 years!

Ok, but I'm talking about as a tester would you be happy to pass an installation if it conformed to a reg that was ancient, even though you know nowadays it would get shot to pieces under the 17th? And what about if this place was commercial and served the public surely then it would have to be approached as if it needed to be up to 17th??

only pass id deviations are code 4's. 1's' and 2's are fails.

If the installation conformed fully with the previous Reg's that prevailed at the time of installation, then it will, or should be just as safe as it was at that time. No later regulations can be retrospectively imposed on that installation....
