Recently my light for the upstairs stopped working. So I replaced the bulb, now it is working but now the switch is making some noise and the light dimms sometimes!

Can anyone tell me the reason for this and how to fix it?

Many Thanks

i would check for a loose connection in the switch and or the light it self

Tight connections are the best and if in doubt get a sparky out

Loose connections can cause a fire

hi
most probably you have loose conn. Somewhere.
Check the switch line conn.or the celing rose wires.

or a dodgy switch. replace switch and make sure all connections are good.

Yer this has gota be a loose conection or high resistance across the switch. replace the noisy switch. or you could tell the switch to quieten down as its causing a nucience :)

With out being rude.........
Turn off light circuit at consumer unit
use screwdriver to turn screw clockwise to tighten all screws in light and light switch (please note only do this if you have some experience)

If in doubt get an electrician out, spending money is better then getting a shock to shorten your life

Can I use the fused electrical screw driver to test if the light circuit is live after turning off the circuit breaker at consumer unit?

Can u describe how it is done? Do we make contact with the fused screw driver on the switch line in the ceiling rose, and contact with line in the switch ?

Many thanks
