Why do manufacturers give RCBO's curly neutral cables?

When you fit them into the board they look a right mess, especially when there are a lot of them. If they were given straight neutral cables you would be able to dress them all neatly down to the neutral bar just as you do with your singles.

Better still, the manufacturers should come up with a board that has a neutral busbar in the back that the RCBO's would clip on to along with the phase (oops sorry, Line) busbar. This would eliminate the need for the extra cable and make the board much tidier.

I've got a 15 way board stuffed full of Wylex RCBOs & they all have straight i.e. NOT "curly" leads but they're so flexible that they're floppy & look a right mess too !! :banghead:

Schneider gear that we're using at the minute has curly cables and you can't straighten them properly. It's not good if you want your board to look neat.

I suppose it is to differentiate it inside a packed board from the circuit neutral as they are black as when and now blue.

Some though are now just straight cables, some of the Protek ones have long cable, and use the tri rated BS 6231 panel cable

think it's all to do with having them long enough to dress round a 3 phase board, where the N bar may be the other side of the board to the RCBO
