Hi wondering if some1 can advise me on a job I have been doin I've run a 10mm swa 3core to a outer building office mostly buried into a consumer unit protected by a rcd . At the house end consumer is it best to terminate in rcd side of board? or general supply side ?... Because if I terminate in rcd side if a fault was to occur in outer building it would interfere with power in house or do I place a separate rcd next to house consumer ?

the SWA does not require RCD protection. RCD is best fitted at the outside building. the only time you need RCD at the front end is if there's T/E buried in walls in the house before joining to SWA.

Thanks no nothing buried at house end just exits board into plastic adaptable box then swa out to outer office which is 30m away

then feed from a non-RCD way in the house CU. fit RCD/s in office.

Why do you want to create a situation where you would not have any discrimination between the two RCD's?? Supply the outbuildings SWA cable from the unprotected side of the main consumer unit!!!
