Hi everyone i have to revamp some light fittings that are on ceiling plugs above the suspended ceiling some are emergency lights built into the light fittings so new chokes and batteries like for like do i have to test the whole circuit or will an earth loop test be ok as i am not working on the fixed wiring many thanks

no real need for testing the fixed wiring, but each fitting should be tested to ensure safety.a R2 with a wander lead would be a good idea.

Always carry out a minor works cert.

It is a perfect way to record any test carried out and satisfactory readings gained. How else can you demonstrate to the customer you have carried out any tests.

Doesn't take much time as you will have your test kit out and the cert it will give you piece of mind that your work and installed equipment is spot on and prove to the customer that all is well with what you have done. You can refur to it should there be future problems. There is also the addition of showing your professionalism to your customer.
