Ring continuity voltage at dead test

Hi guys

doing a ring continuity test . R1,Rn,R2 values all okay. Done figure of 8. Tested at each point and not allowing continuity test due to 8 volts. Stuck on what this is? Any ideas ?

Is anything else on within the building?

It could be induced current from a different circuit.
Drop the power to the whole property and see if it disapears

What type of property is it? flat, terrace, house?

Do a walk around and visually check that everything is off, I have been into houses before and someone has Henley blocked before the meter to another CU.
Other option is they borrowed a supply from next door.

Saying that I was at a house last week, CU change - up in the attic was 2 rings. One for the house I was working on and 1 for next door.

It turned out the attic wall as 2ft over next door instead of directly over the separating wall

I suspect that some of the "flat" circuits are running close to the house and you are seeing induced voltage...

Is there another flat upstairs? May be induced voltage from cables in there.
