had an argument with workmate today about height of sockets while where doing this re wire

do they have to be 450mm as its not a new build as they are around 250mm at present and its all like for like so do we have to put them 450mm

i say no he says yes

this is what i said as they arent in skirting board or low enough to damage the flex on the plugs

we had this arguement last re wire about the sockets but he left the switche above 1200mm

It comes under Part M which as allready said only applies to new builds;)

Extensions and rewires can be as before as long as the building is no worse off than before you started ie,you shouldnt lower the heaights etc.

This has to be one of the most missunderstood part of the building regs
