socket outlet

A microwave oven is to be installed above a built in oven in a tall kitchen unit, is it ok to have the socket behind the microwave inside the unit? or is it better to make a hole in the back of the unit and have the socket outlet on the wall.
If I remember right the part of the unit which houses the oven wont have a back and be open to gain access to the wall. don't really want to put the socket there though.

Cant you install a socket in the cupboard above and drill a 60 mm hole next to it to pull the plug through

I dont understand the last bit of your post but I would fix the socked to the wall and put a hole in the unit.

I'd be checking the depth of the cupboard before doing anything.

Most Microwaves and kitchen designs haven't thought or allowed for the cable & socket!

Access is the key here , sockets behind intergrated appliances if the fuse goes is problematic to say the least .

Most kitchen I have seen have had the socket behind the microwave as the depth is only 450mm. There is enough space in the back for the socket and plug. As for wether its a good idea or not is down to the installation itself
