Just a quick question..

Just wondering, if was to replace a single socket that isnt working for a double socket, the cable are too short, are we allowed just to extend the cables with a connector block in the socket?

Sorry if daft question

no...crimp them peter...you need red crimps for the CPC and blue crimps for your live conductors (assuming its 2.5/1.5 that is)...

I got both mine off ebay a fair few years back at a really good price.
They were probably knicked from the factory, but my moral standpoint is generally quite low!

i've got a note from me mam. been sorting the tip that i call a van out.

Connector blocks? Wagos? Crimp n shrink? Crikey guys where are your cost controls? This problem is nothing that a good old fashioned tape joint won't sort. Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!!

Totally agree with Glenn, however you could try to gain some slack, if it is under capping you may pull a few inches up or down depending on where the cables come from of course, give it a try first  and don't forget to do a loop test after haha
