Thinking of adding an Solar iBoost to my home system but also changing the immersion heater as its been in for about 14 years and no doubt heavily covered in limescale, not even sure it has a thermostat on it.

I noticed that Backer do specific low wattage immersion heaters for Solar. Is it worth getting one of these for use with the Solar iBoost or go for a normal replacement as the Solar specific ones seem expensive.

Thats what I thought. I did not really understand why I would need to buy a low energy immersion when that Solar iBoost should be handling how much is sent to it anyway.
It is quite a clever unit really. It is not a simple on / off switch. It ramps up and down with your PV export upto a maximum of 3kw. If you override it with the boost function when the PV is exporting less than 3kw it delivers the full load to the immersion with the extra power required made up from the grid.
