How does Solar Planet get my details to ring me and offer to change my inverter over to Solaredge? I've had 2 calls from customers to say they've been offered it and now one tonight for my own system. They're buying in data from DLG and TDP Marketing but other than the MCS list no-one else would know electronically that I had solar installed.

Did you ask them? They're meant to oblige and tell you. Not that they always will.

Apparently the MCS database has been hacked. Another installer I know has been offered the data. He's reported it to MCS, RECC and the Information Commissioner none of whom are remotely interested. Your customers will be getting calls too.

I'd be getting the Sales rep around for a chat.
Once in the house I'd point out that HE is making use of customer details acquired illegally and you will be seeking legal advice as whether to take out a private prosecution against both him and his employer.

They can't deny the details are illegally acquired, they should know they are not freely available.

Threatening the above over the phone wouldn't be so pleasureable.
