How can you do this method when the cable is buried in plaster entering an accessory box or a CU ? all very well on a workshop table, but in the real word no chance, yes the fist bit is how I was taught, but scouring cable??????
 
This bloke clearly hasn't worked a day on site, its a one tool job a pair of snips. Its all well and good scoring a piece of twin when its in your hand, try it on site when its deep in a metal back box or in a busy switch. When he scored the conductor i laughed with embarrassment, talk about "Jobsworth".,
