my navy career ended due to an incident involving "FINE MIST" ... the mist in question been OEP80 (Hydraulic Oil) and was been squeezed out of a valve at system pressure 195 Bar..

the leak was isolated but muggins here dressed ready to enter the sub from dockside in firefighting equipment was rudely KO'd by a dockside container door! luckily as i say the leak was isolated safely and the risk of FIRE/EXPLOSION was removed but i was screwed!!

in its liquid form same as diesel its harmless but in mist/vapour form...... not very nice!!

especially if it penetrates the skin, which a lot of people dont realise can happen if the pressure is high enough.

Got called to a paint spray shop, just been rewired, beautiful job all done in flameproof, must have cost a fortune. As i walked in the paint sprayer had an extension lead running from outside the booth to a 2 bar electric fire!
