Discuss Survey: Agency workers stop ‘level playing field’ in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

What do you suggest an unemployed Spark does if offered agency work when contractors are not willing to employ guys permanent on the books?
Don't get me wrong agencies take a skim off what companies pay and you'll probably need to go umbrella company but works works at the end of the day.

I for one can say that there is no lowering of my work standard when employed by an agency and I can guarantee I pay my taxes and NI.

If contractorss would employ more guys direct from the start, agencies would be up t poop creek!

mmm I am not sure I can agree with agency workers getting paid the same as others I will probably get my head in my hands but here is my experience.
I used to work for a company which got new contracts which meant they had to employ agency guys from South!
(As I am about as far North as you can get everything is South to me)
Anyway the sparks we got could not to try work conduit work trunking and we had to basically show them everything and what we were told was where they come from the labourers do all that kind of thing!!!
Well I am sorry but to me here on an Island an electrician does everything involved with fitting and connecting so for this reason I cant see how they are worth the same as I am !!!
