Evening all,

I have been asked to install a supply to an outside pond (from an existing conservatory ring with an outside IP rated socket installed) and have been asked whether there is a way that they can be alerted if the MCB / RCD trips (preferably audio). Any ideas what can be installed internally (on the ring or at the CU) to alert them?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry (this may seem stupid), but as I've never fitted one is this a contactor in placement of the MCB within the CU or fed from the CU to a patress / adaptable box etc and then the ring continues onwards from this point?

It's an auxiliary contact which fits onto the MCB, I'm not sure how much simpler I can make it. It's just like an aux contact on a contactor or isolator, or anything for that matter.

This would be an auxiliary contact fitted onto the side of the MCB,which would manually operate when the MCB changes state,
you can derive a feed of the mains side of the MCB to switch across the auxiliary contact ,providing a switched live to whatever alarm indication you chose to activate, bearing in mind you may have to sub fuse depending on what cable size you chose
you would also have another option of providing a different voltage source across this contact, ie a zone from an intruder alarm to alert when they are not present at home
