The MyECS H&S test is in the bag; passed today so thought I'd offer this up and, hopefully, save someone a little stress.

The test is £48 and easy enough PROVIDING you don't treat it that way. They send a list of sample questions when you book the test. At the test centre, it was obvious who thought the test didn't warrant any revision. The centre was in chaos; hot, noisy (take earplugs), an hour behind and queuing out the door and down the stairs. Don't let that throw you. My log in failed endlessly. They can sort it but it adds to the stress.

Still haven't fathomed the MyECS card application and the pass certificate is only valid for a month. No chance of just presenting the certificate and saving £48 on the card :(

Thank goodnes I am not part of that madness. Had considered at one point but a couple of guys on a course I did put me off with similar stories. JIB sound completely disorganised and too big to give a flying err...mmm can't remember what it is now.

No matter what you trade, skill or professional direction there is a parasitic organisation there is a trade body skimming of the top for bugger all return. It is the dance we do without choice.

Register for MyECS (can search for myecs).
Then apply for either a new card or for renewal.
If applying for a new card, you will have to scan ot photograph your certificates and send them with your application.

If you are applying just for renewal, tick the box saying you don't want to be graded.

If you are applying for renewal and a new grading, you will have to supply copies of your certificates.

The MyECS desktop will tell you what certificates (if any) they have on file for you. Including the H&S exam.

Normally the H&S exam lasts for 2 years, not just for 1 month.
There is in the pipeline extra questions to do with the environment. So it could be that will happen in 1 month?

MyECS works for some but not others as it did not for me and you do get the impression it is run by a teenager in their bedroom when you try to contact them.

That good EH! Arn't they the ones that can simultaneously launch a nuclear warhead, play a game and find all the best ----.

With apologies to ECS, got the card ordered. For reference: although the exam result is instant you have to wait 24 hours for the result to hit the website and request your card WHICH COSTS DOUBLE WHAT A DVLC LICENCE COSTS.
