Started of as an Electronics engineer doing domestic TV VCR etc (30 plus years ago). Then moved to TV and Broadcast.
That involved Mains electrics in installations, edit suites and Post Production facilities way way back when things were far less complicated. The mains work I was involved with at work led me into my own home electrics.
Always been a keen DIYer and cover off all the trades from plumbing building and electrics.
Done complete house re-plumbs and central heating as well as electrics.
less so in the last 15 years or so as work dominated my time.
Just sold my business and now have more time on my hands.
Still doing Broadcast Technical Training but with a loft conversion on the cards decided to formalise my Electrical knowledge.
Taken courses to cover off my Part P (100% in the exam) and my edition 17 (93% in the exam)
All the practical stuff was easy and straightforward.
Looking to join the NICEIE so I can sign off my own work and then start to take on local domestic jobs to keep me busy.

So that's me.

Yes looking into that. But I have to say their registration process seems to be geared to larger more established setups.
Not sure it makes sense to go directly for that route.
I may look at doing minor works and notifiable works via local BC until I'm more established.
Its not so much the niceic fees (redundancy payment can cover that off) its their description of their process.

So are you doing new installs via local BC now?
