Hi
I have a Veritas 8 alarm system with an additional Veritas R8 keypad. The system appears to be locked with the following symptoms.
Main box shows tamper light – red, unset light – green and power light green. When the alarm is set, here, then the exit buzzer continues forever, and thus no alarm is set.
The keypad does not have the green “unset” light illuminated and is dead to any key depressions. The keypad is illuminated.
If anyone has a solution and can detail what actions I can take, then I would appreciate knowing what to do.
Thanks

Paul

is this a new system installad or a new fault? if its a new install check your keypad for any trapped cores. Also i dont think the keypads have any tamper connections but if connected at the panel end causes problems had a similar problem myself

As mentioned before a power down both batt' and mains should unlock it but if the system is timing forever check all sensors and contacts are working with the walk test, if fault persists strip back to factory set-up disconnect all zones and fit links and try again, if still fault occurs run a temp cable to keypad to elliminate a possible cable fault on existing.

Its common as the colder weather comes for doors to shrink slightly and can change the distance of door contacts so they become intermittent or permanently open circuit.

Although in your case the keypad locking out points to possible tamper issues, keypad or panel issues so first step would be to short out the tamper terminals to elliminate this as a cause on both zoning and keypad.

Thanks to all who replied.

Ayjay and Darkwood you were spot on. disconnecting the battery, then the mains, and reconnecting solved the problem. So pleased it was that simple. Thanks again
