Discuss Which Circuit to put Extractor Fan for Oven (Domestic) on? in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hello,

Planning the new kitchen and trying to work out how disruptive some of the rewiring will be (got to get someone in to move a few sockets and add one for the fridge). It has dawned on me that there is no existing supply for an extractor hood/fan (the one that goes above the cooker). So I was wondering which circuit these are usually placed on? There is a dedicated cooker circuit and a ring main (not separate for kitchen) if that helps. I ask as the kitchen has been extended over the years (flat roof) so chasing wires in the roof space would be a bit of an issue (possible though).

Cheers,

Martin

Would usually come off the kitchen ring from an fcu to a single unswitched socket as you are ripping the kitchen apart is there anyway you can get a kitchen ring installed how far away is the cu from the kitchen?

Hello Martin and Welcome to the Forum.
A fused spur taken from the kitchen ring final circuit often used for the fan. Your Sparks will be experienced in magically getting cables around the house, but don't wait till tiling and plastering is done

Thanks for your replies!

Wilko good advice ;)

Rosco, CU is under stairs, then a toilet under the stairs then the kitchen. Couple of meters in all. Concrete Floors however between CU,hallway, toilet and kitchen. That said the ring as it stands must get in there already somehow and now is the prime time to do it.
