I've worked for a few builders over the years, and all of them seem to have a "go to" electrician they call upon when needed who'll seemingly sign anything off, regardless of who installed it, how they installed it, or whether or not it complies.

I just can't get my head around how there are qualified people out there who're willing to walk on site and sign off what is a lot of the the time the work of unskilled labourers (who by definition tend to know nothing about proper electrical theory or installation) when they've not seen or supervised any of the installation process.

And from conversations I've had it always seems that they're in and out within the hour, even on big jobs.

Anyone else got any stories like this or is this a rarity with dodgy builders I've had the pleasure of knowing?

I guess it depends on how many notes are in the brown envelope!
