Discuss HELP! Too many wires than I know what to deal with L! in the Electrical Appliances Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Not as funny as assuming blue / black has to be a neutral in a switch and then wonder why their funky dimmer / WiFi “smartswitch” doesn’t work.

I'm not being nasty here, but I find it funny when people take down a light and expect to see just 3 wires L N E, and then wonder why there's more (even more funny when they connect all the Reds (Browns) together and all the blacks (blues) together and then wonder why the mcb keeps blowing!

I think at this point of frivolity,it may be polite to explain to the OP,that his ask and pics, are akin,to someone requesting help with a computer software issue...and posting a photo of the keyboard. :)

Hi Ashley.
As you can tell by the comments, its hard to state for sure what each wire does without testing or being there.
Can you get to the cables to see were each cable is wired to or where is goes?

Pretty much sums it up I'm afraid. Whilst we're happy to give DIY'ers general advice there's no way to know what the wiring should be without test equipment and having the experience to use it and the knowledge of how to prove it safe.

In the interest of safety we don[t allow step by step guides so I'm going to close this thread.

Time to call in an electrician.
