The Ghost

So my son has a hive controller and while it appears to say system is on the boiler does not switch on. Sometime later, maybe an hour the boiler switches on. Any ideas ? It is a potterton boiler quite old and the hive has been tacked on, perhaps wrongly. Anyone in the Farnham Surrey area that can check it out ?

Hi @Wilko thanks for reply. So I think it is sporadic and unpredictable doing strange things here and there. They have just moved in a week or so ago and finding out about the house so all is not clear yet. Sorry about delay just driven back from Surrey.

@Wilko has stepped into the breach @davesparks thanks a lot though. I do like the idea of motorised valve sticking/intermittently operating. @handyspark, I did say to my Son that there could be an old stat that is not disconnected given the way the wiring is in there. He was adamant it was all disconnected, same as when I checked the supply at the boiler and it was there he was adamant no power was getting through, hey ho!

The hives ive had being intermittent, were due to connection issues from receiver, as it was too close to the boiler (or being screened by multiple walls to the hub) poor signal, although it looked healthy.
The other one was the receiver had been mounted onto the old controller plate, and didnt get a decent pin connection. I tend to use the plate that it comes with.

I hope you have resolved this now.

Stay lucky
