Discuss EICR AND SCHEME MEMBER? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

No.
GN3 lists what is expected of an inspector including relevant training and experience, an in depth knowledge of regulations, and a good knowledge of installation practices past and present in order to identify defects or potential defects.

Thanks Andy.

What insurances do you have?

Are you SE or employed?
Thanks Murdoch, I don't have any insurance. (Am just making a report if the installation, why do I need an insurance and which sort of the insurance is required for this kind of procedure)
Am employed and I currently do an average of 10 EICR a week for the company, work on physical forms but I don't do the final signing on (I only do the donkey work and office enter the results and observation to soft system).
I am asking for a private work.

PL ins is a good idea too

Then there is the small matters of telling HMRC and your vehicle insurance company .........

The test meter you are planning to use - is it yours?
Yes, I will use my MFT with upto to date cal cert and I will use my push bike there as I am not planning to dismantle or install a circuit.
In your opinion are you instigating as an employee is not a good idea to do private work unless i meet requirement of a registered company?

By reading different op posts, am a bit confused especially when EICR is not a notified electrical work and is purely for the purpose of home owner/s peace of mind.
I can see Murdoch point regarding HMRC, but I might be doing it for free as the owner is my mistress. Do I still need all those stuffs apart from my competency and proper tools for the job and forms from IET link.

A few years back (just after EICRS started) I conducted an inspection on a property the Landlord intended renting to the Local Council.
The Council refused to accept the 9 page EICR as I was not registered with the NICEIC. They changed that to registered with a Part P scheme.
The Landlord then arranged for an NICEIC registered installer to conduct an inspection (turned out to be a 1 page visual) which the Local Council accepted.
On the other hand, I did some work in an industrial unit and the Tennants insurance required the EIC be issued by an NICEIC installer. After a little chat on the phone with the insurers they were willing to accept my EIC.
