Hi

Would this be allowed : Fitting a double socket to a chimney breast , chased a horizontal run across the chimney breast then to the first corner then along horizontal to about 500mm to meet up with a double socket feed that comes down to a double socket and then it follows that run down into that back box to pick up the feed .

The cable is in a oval plastic conduit and will be just below the surface , the house has RCD protection .

i would come horizontally from existing socket onto chimney brest, then vertically to your new socket. makes the safe zones easier to follow. or....... up from existing socket int ceiling void, then across to chimney and verticall down to new socket.

Technically the 500mm you chased horizontally to meet the vertical chase would not be in the zones.
I have drilled diagonally through the chimney breast wall before to make the horizontal chase on the face of the chimney meet the vertical chase on the side. The walls are more than thick enough to avoid going into the chimney cavity quite easily.

Thanks for the feedback, just a note , the chimney breast is flush with the wall ! .
Cheers
spike
then either way is compliant.each socket will create a safe zone for the cables.

To be blunt this should be in the DIY section................. so maybe employ a spark?

Be careful not to puncture the chimney in any way. Ifs it's not an active chimney now then it may well become active in the future and could leak harmful gases.
