I have had an EICR carried out by a NAPIT member, but I have noticed the certificate states ‘The inspection and testing detailed within this report and accompanying schedule has been carried out in accordance with BS 7671: 2018 amended to 2020’
Does this make my certificate invalid as I have...
I know this has been brought up before but as a QS for a housing association ,i have been asked my opinion on interpretation of the regulations concerning SPD with smoke alarms (assuming they are a safety service).
several scenarios exist here :
1. Upgrading or updating existing alarms (ie...
Hi all.
I only just noticed this, even after issuing many EICRs and EICs over the last couple of months, but in the Model Forms for Certification and Reporting starting on page 508, something rather obvious seems to be missing.
Specifically on page 510 where it asks for particulars of the...
Got my 18th Ed certificate late last year, now doing 2391. Obviously Amendment 2 has come out since then, and I see these courses available to update your 18th accordingly.
But at what point would this be needed? I assume it's not a legal requirement. If I got my 2391 and NVQ in the next year...
A long time since I've used this forum.
My question is.....With the release of amendment 2 on 28th March '22, would an EICR on a purpose built student accommodation or HMO fail the EICR due to it not having AFDD's on the circuits feeding socket outlets if they are tested between 28th March '22...
Just watched a video by J Ward covering parts 1,2 & 3, any thoughts on the consumer unit, this being a Type Tested Assembly, where if non compatible Mcb’s are used it does not comply & does not remain a Consumer Type Tested Assembly.
No mention of what it becomes though, so what happens next...
Hi All,
Can anyone shed any light on why the note from indent ii) of regulation 702.410.3.4.3 has disappeared in the most recently published version of BS7671?
I quote;
"NOTE: Where a PME earthing facility is used as the means of earthing for the electrical installation of a swimming pool or...
Doing a EICR in a college…there have been many over the years, it’s approximately 50 years old & improvement happens every so often.
The new amendment concerning all areas of the installation on support of cables to prevent premature collapse.
This college consists of plastic containment...
So I need to add a new circuit, I was going to do it to amendment 2.. Its a commercial property and will be adding a new circuit for a defibrillator cabinet and associated accessories (lights)... There is a decent enough 3 phase board in place, but there is no SPD.. Obviously if we add a new...
For those interested; SparkyNinja & Team e5 have uploaded the video from last night's Amendment 2 event webinar that they held to discuss Amendment 2.
You can see that video here;
Ypu can also see a handy little guide from NICEIC that talks about the changes
Good Evening,
Amendment 2. Just wanted to ask your thoughts on this once more money making criteria that's been laid before us? The Introduction of AFDD's, as I know has been hanging around for some time and is soon to be introduced.
What sort of nightmare is this going to course us in the real...

Hi.
Been reading the but around 427.1.7.
Does anyone have any idea on retrospective application?
Is this going to apply to every board change or just adapted to new builds and then as a C3 recommendation for everything else?
Given prices it's going to be a massive cost change on a board...
Just been reading an article regards Amendment 2 coming out next year.
The requirements for AFDD is going to create some interesting conversations with customers as they are not cheap. Unless manufacturers get their act together I would be surprised if in 12 months they have stock or are...
Well the 18th edition 2nd amendment is on its way, has anyone read the proposed new changes yet?
Due to be released March 2022 , and implemented March 2023.
From what I've seen, AFFD's will be compulsory, rewording of certification, changes to RCD regs , and changes to wiring in escape routes...
I am a bit unsure of what Amendment 1 is saying regarding EV charging points and PME.
I understand the existing 3 methods in section 722.411.4.1 regarding the use of PME and EV charging points but I am not sure what the additional methods are?
Is it now easier to use EV charging points with a...

So they messed up the first amendment and have released another corrigendum:
Link to original source: https://electrical.------.org/media/2420/bs-7671-2018_a1_2020-corrigendum-may-2020-read-only.pdf
Maximum Earth Fault Loop Impedance for OverCurrent Device was calculated
230/(MCB Rating*5) * Rule of Thumb
is that correct?
And how are they worked out now after Amendment 3?
