    British Gas Local Heroes

I received an email today telling me about this 'scheme' from British Gas called local heroes, basically they advertise and customers ring up or contact them to get jobs done. The advantage is you are making use of the British Gas brand ( i know some of there service is down right poor mind)...

British electrician moving to Christchurch New Zealand

Hi all, I am moving the Christchurch hopefully just after the New Years. I was wondering if anyone would be aware if I could work unlicensed for a while over there or would I be better getting my license for New Zealand before I go? I was in Australia for 2 years and never had any problem...

    British Standards not highly regarded

Thought this would be the best place to vent. As most of you know I work abroad. Australia. So during my long arduous Nightshift I got talking to some international sparkies. Three Aussie and One Canadian. The old conversation of Standards got brought up. To which I said that I thought very...

    British made tools

Ok folks. Are there any good makes of tools manufactured in the U.K? Would be good to get a feel for what might still be left out there. I suspect that what few companies that are left may be selling in name only with manufacturing being done on the cheap in China. Anyone aware of any small...

    British Forums Now Online

My and @Lou thought we'd knock up a new forum yesterday so looked through some domain names we have, and rather than start something else business or automotive-related we thought we'd try something new so we went for more of a social theme with BritishForums.co.uk. So far we've sorted out the...

Well the season went by rather quick im not a Hamilton fan myself but he is British so im hoping Rosberg gets some sort of problem to enable it to go to the last race to decide the title. British Gas Meter Bonding

Just been looking at a family members house and electrics; about 2 years ago the Gas Board moved their meter from under the stairs to a box outside. Anyhow they have not run any bonding to the meters new position and have bonded onto a gas pipe not far the original meter position, which is where...

@Dan Can you change the forum language to UK English, please. I don't like American 'English'. Or at least add the option English(UK) to the language button, bottom left corner.

    British standards and tables

Is there a reason that the tables in 7671, don't reference the standards for cables. The cables are embossed with the standard it would be much easier if the table referenced the bs numbers it applied to. I know it's not difficult to work out but it leaves it open to interpretation.

    British sparky working in Germany

Hi, I have decided to ground this thread to whine about practices of Germany's best made sparkys. I repeatedly discovered that I am challenged with the German mentality of so called competent electrical installation or electrician's. Let us see how much resonance will come. I just hope that...

    Life is a (British) Gas

Got a call from a local guy this week, said he is getting a fishy smell when using his shower. Went to have a look, had got 25mm tails from his main CU along with a pair of 6mm singles (with a few strands chopped off both tails) going to a separate Wylex 3036 jammed into the outgoing side of the...
