In a standard set up for emergency (non maintained) lighting ,in an HMO for example, is it necessary for the lighting to form a single circuit i.e to be simultaneously isolatable for testing purposes or can each light be fed separately with its own test switch?
Ordered new emergency lights in, but for some reason when wired up, the led light flashes for a second, then the led charge indicator lights for a second and it keeps going on like that, but then I have wired it up to a plug, but when i turn the plug on, it turns on for a second, trips the...
Hi there I’m after some advice if possible.
I currently have a non-maintained emergency light fitting wired to an emergency fish tail switch in my home. I am looking to remove these and replace with a normal light fitting.
Whilst I am quite happy to tackle most things I wanted to get some advice...
Afternoon guys,
Just a quick question in regards to annual inspection and testing of emergency lighting as per BS5266. A supervisor at work has asked us as engineers to carry out a load of 3hour annual discharge inspections on various sites and a few engineers have refused to do this.
This is...
Hi All,
New to the forum and was seeking some advice.
I have arrived at a site to complete yearly 3 hour emgencey lighting test. Once completed I switched the power back on and half the emergency lamps haven't turned back on. When you turn the power off, the lamp lights up in emergency mode...
Trying to wire up emergency lighting, for some reason, this doesn't turn on at all, even when power is isolated it does not come on, so ive added pictures to see if wiring and everything is correct, tested to ensure there was power coming in when CB was on, and that there was none when it was...
Good morning people. Just been having a "chat" with another sparks on site regarding core usage of three core for emergency lighting. I have always (and everyone I know) has used brown as switch line and black as permanent. He has wired a whole floor of a care home opposite to me. Your views as...
Not quite got to this stage in the project yet but trying to think forward on what needs to be done, I haven't had much experience with wiring emergency switch lighting, Live and Switch Lives. Can someone tell me if the wiring is wrong in this wiring sketch and how to rectify.
I've deliberately...
I am currently doing a 3 hour duration test in Selfridges for the em lighting. When I turn off the mcbs the emergency lighting does not activate. I have asked if this is to do with the central battery system but the staff will not let me and my colleague touch it. Just wondering if anyone has...
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I have just rewired a HMO and have now been asked to do fire alarm and emergency lighting.
I have wired both when working for previous company, but always followed drawings and never had anything to do with design. I started it today and after a bit of...
Hi all,
This is kind of prompted by the existing emergency lighting thread, but is subtly different.
I do some work for a charity in Cardiff and on my last visit I was asked to investigate the failure of a light in a toilet. Turns out, it's an emergency luminaire that uses a couple of CFL...
Good afternoon,
yesterday we had a power cut in our care home, 2 emergency lights did not kick in. They kick in on the key flick test which i do every month but they do not kick in when i switch off the MCB in the consumer unit. We have just had new batteries put in and they are fully charged...
Hi all,
I am currently looking at emergency lighting requirements for a church. The main body of the Church has windows all around with huge Stained glass Window above the Altar. These windows let in a huge amount of light, even at night time.
My questions is this - can I factor in ambient...
A more unholy jumble of wires and system of in-line emergency pack I have yet to see. Very dissapointed with the product. But it does work I suppose. Initially I thought wtf is this? but pause for thought and it all became clear but very inelegant solution. And the LED is supposed to be placed...
Hello I'm a first year apprentice and I'm struggling to get to grips with these klik rose wiring. Can someone please explain how you would wire these up from start to finish, what colour wires go to what terminals, how to wire the lights up with emergencies and pir's ? Thanks
Hello. I am required to produce a design for an electrical installation of a proposed Community Centre, and I am having some problems determining a workable method of connecting of the Non-Maintained Emergency Lighting, which is provided using battery packs to be incorporated into the relevant...
Hi all,
I'm technically a 'trainee' but in a months time I will finally have all the qualifications to apply for an approved electrician jib card.
The first job I will be undertaking is getting a house up to HMO requirements, which are outside the scope of bs7671 so it's all a bit alien to...
Hi,
I got 8 normally closed emergency stop buttons wired in series and 100 amp 4 pole contactor with 230v coils for the stop circuit. They require a key switch at the D/B to reset the circuit if a emergency stop has been hit and and after it has been twisted to reset the stop button, was just...
To speed me along with a quote since this is all taking too long and I haven't taken a penny yet.
Q) Would a modern LED bulkhead emergency light have a green indicator LED for any reason other than proving that it's a "self test" type in working condition?
(In other words do non-self-test EM...
