Does anyone know the requirements for the amount of smoke alarms required in a semi detatched house with 5 bedrooms in for students? Just wondering if there has too be 1 in each room, or at the top/bottom of stairs is adequate?

Just installing a new consumer unit for a customer. Split load board with 1 half RCD & the other half RCBO's. RCD & all but 1 RCBO has had good trip times, all sub 40ms at 1In & 5In, but the 6A RCBO for the kitchen lighting circuit is tripping at 40.8ms & 40.7ms at 5In. If I disconnect the...
Hi Sparkies Please can anyone tell me how often a nightclub should have a periodic inspection carried out. I thought that if a property had a public entertainment licence that it was every year, but I have also been told every 5 years.

Hi all,
Wondered if I could pick your collective brains, I'm possibly looking to install an RCBO only board on my newly re-wired house and wanted to know the best make/model? I'll then weigh up the options of dual split rcd with 2 RCBO on the unprotected side or full RCBO.
Cheers
Simple call to look at a shower iso that had burnt out. Apparently not for the first time, so I make my first look in the shower itself. Nothing to report. Take apart the iso and discover the picture below. OK, only 6mm so what rating's the shower....hang on....when I opened it there was...
Hi
I have a Bosch double oven, approx 8 yrs old, which has developed an annoying fault.
About every 3 months, the heating element in the fan oven blows.
It doesn't just trip the C/U, it blows to an extent that the element itself snaps or furs up/melts.
The oven is connected correctly to a...
And i am really looking forward to it! Just had a refresher day, they went over testing and safe isolation both of which the tutot said i had no issues with, did some fault finds, normal stuff like open ring crossed over conductors and short circuits i had no issues identifying. When it came to...

Went to see a job today, the houses are let to students and the owner believes he can do a PIR every 5 years. Given that the "average" student stays about 6 months and there are 4 students per house I said that a retest should be considered yearly. A quick look around told me everything about...
