Hi everone,I am new to the forum and think its brilliant,I am currently
studying for my 2394&2395 and am testing everything in sight with a
fluke 1651 multi functional tester.When i try to do a loop test on a lighting
circuit,I follow all the instuctions,but i keep getting >2000 ohms,i am...
*Thread Title Correction* Impedance
Hi, I'm going over some choice revision for my 2365 Lvl 3 course and have come across the question "What is the impedance of a 200V 50Hz circuit containing 8A?". Although I am presuming I need to use AC Theory, I have gone over all of my notes on impedance...

Same as the above, it's a year old but has only been used 3-4 times tops.
I don't think it's in calibration still, but I can arrange to have it calibrated for anyone interested.

Will post some photos when I get home later.

So... Is there a way of working out the Earth fault loop impedance on a 110v supply that is supplied by a hardwired 110v Centre tapped to earth transformer?
Anyone else come across this.
I have some additional 110v sockets to fit in a workshop but need to...

Hi guys,
Just wondering if you can help me on this one,
I have a RLC series circuit the values are as below;
R = unknown
L = 800mH
C = 300uF
from there I have calculated;
the resonant frequency to be 10.3Hz
the capacitive reactance 51.50 ohms
The reason I need to know is I need to work...

im bulding my first tool kit so i was browsing round for a socket tester and this came up. and it got me thinking how useful would the loop test even be. and wouldnt these need a calibration etc Martindale EZ150 E-Ze check Xtra Non-Trip Earth Loop Impedance Socket Tester | eBay
Hi all,
I am hoping someone can clarify if my understanding on earth fault loop impedance testing is correct.
A low efli is needed so a protective decive can operate in the required time, the lower the z the quicker it will operate.

hey guys....
ive downloaded some revision questions for my 2394/95 course i have booked for august and ive come across a question im a little unsure about......even when i have used the regs and GN3 to help. a little help would be greatly appreciated as there is no answer sheet for the...

Hi,
Excuse my ignorance.
I have a electrical panel with a 240v ac to 24 v dc rectifier. The outgoing circuit breaker is 63amp as the 24v d will be stepped up by a power supply unit in the next panel.
Is an earth loop impedance test required for the 24 v dc supply?
Thanks

I'm more used to domestic installations but have taken on a job in a workshop. The workshop is around 80m away from the intake which is a 3 phase TN-C-S supply. The workshop is new but I'm using an existing 16mm 4 core SWA cable. I'm using the...
hi everyone I have a question: Water heater 3kw the length of the circuit is 28m , the line and cpc 2.5mm2 How determine the expected Zs? I'm looking for in On-Side Guide but I do not know..... any suggestions please Thanks
Hi everybody,
I have encountered a problem with EFL (Zs) testing a couple of times recently.
I have had unusually high readings for the length of circuit and earthing system type and the increase in impedance seems to be coming from resistance across the line pole of the RCD in the consumer...
Hi I've done a Ze test on a TNS system and it's come back as 0.14 ohms is this reading ok as the max is 0.8 is there not a min amount you can have thanks
I'm testing a job at the minute and today I went to a double socket that has 240 at it but when I carried out a ELI test the result is a open circuit .the 240 I am getting is between L-E and the means of earthing is TT ,it's a radial circuit supplied bu a 20amp breaker totally confused??????
Hey guys, I need help finding out which tester you'd need to test for: continuity of circuit protective conductors, earth fault loop impedance and prospective fault current. I'm pretty sure you'd use a low reading ohmmeter for continuity but I don't know the other two. Also, any requirements...
Hi can somebody shed some light upon correction factors for earth fault loop impedance. I know that the vales of zs in bs 7671 are if the conductors are running at max temp ie worst case scenario , am I right in believing that if you get a measured result you apply 0.8 to it?
Hi guys,
Im just filling in my first ever solo EIC when I check the onsite guide and gn3 for max permitted zs (tabulated) for bs60898 type b 32A the table shows 1.16ohms but to me it didnt ring a bell, checking bs7671 table 41.3 shows max zs to be 1.44.
Can anyone shed some light on why and...
