    Main incomer tripping

I was called in a block of office saying they have a problem with the main incomer. During the night nit all nights randomly the main switch in the switch gear is tripping. At night the offices are closed only the survers are running. Has anyone encountered this problem? Or what test you suggest?

Checking Calibration of factory incomer electricity meter

I've been asked to confirm that our site electricity meter is accurate! Easy on a small site, but 6 cable feed, and a few thousand amps, leaves me short on ideas. To confirm, this is the meter that records electricity usage for our bill. It's a CT style. The meter doesn't give a live power read...

    Main Incomer and Meter Mounting

Hi all, I've purchased a property recently and I've managed to have look at the main incomer today. The main incomer and meter are mounted on slatted wood (looks like floorboard?). Am I right in thinking these should be fixed onto a flame retardant / non-combustible board? I was going to...

hi about to install a invicta 3 , hager 3 phase board. the neutral on the board is on the left, yet the 4 pole time delay rcd i am going to use has the N labelled on the right hand side of the RCD, so with the copper incoming kit links it won't fit? are there Hager version rcds with neutral on...

    Antiquated incomer...........

Any of the site historians like to explain what this is all about? It looks like one side is a 40A main fuse but the other, exposed, side attached to the 15A switch? By the way it was open when I got there, honest. Need the DNO in to put in an E7 meter and teleswitch, if that's how they still...

3 or 4 Pole main incomer?

When ordering a 3 phase + Neutral DB, I forgot to specify that I wanted a 4 pole switch for the main incomer. What came was a 3 pole main switch with neutral link. My question is why would you opt to use a 3 pole and neutral link instead of a 4 pole switch? Surely a 4 pole switch is always...

Main bonding with metal water incomer but plastic installation

Hi. Quick question. Domestic property recently rewired by niceic spark. Water incomer is metal for about 3 feet into the property (celar) but the rest of the water installation is plastic. Looks like during the rewire the water bonding was broken on purpose. Does it need to be bonded again? (My...

Isolator versus protection device on main incomer

Hi, i'm only a student so please forgive me for the basic question: Say you have a generator or power transformer serving a main mccb panel, why can't the main switch of the panel be just an isolator? I've only seen the main switching device as a mccb or acb. I know that in a house you'll have a...

Will a Fuse Finder do this?

Hi, I'm working up an estimate for a board change for a flat in a small block. Checking for the main incomers in the Dry riser cupboards and of course the labels are 'inconclusive' to say the least! I confess in the past I've just pulled fuses (one was 5 fuses until the right one) but whacking...

    Electrical incomer too old?

Hi, Apologies if I'm breaking a million rules by posting (and registering here) as I'm not an electrician, but I had a question about the safety/age of something electrical. I have just recently bought a house, and the survey flagged up possible electrical issues. We had a local electrician...

    Moving Electrical Incomer

Hi Im considering buying a repossession and was wondering how much it would typically cost to move the main Incomer about a 3 foot.
