Hi forum, A question about R1+R2 testing. I’m testing a lighting circuit. It’s an old circuit with old colours. In the control panel feeding the circuit there is no earth cable feeding the lighting circuit, only an earth cable bonding the control panel to the strands of the armoured cable...

Voltage is 50, instead of 220

There are two lights at the entrance to the kitchen. I rarely use them. Recently, I found that one light was off. After two weeks, I have finally decided to fix it. I removed the old bulb, which was labeled 220 V, 50 W. I checked the resistance and found it infinite. Burnt out, I thought. I took...

How would you know that you have had a power cut and electricity is coming through a generator instead of mains?

Hi sorry for the vague question. I'm looking more of a starting point. What do you have in place to know whether you are running on mains power, UPS, or a backup generator? If the mains should fail how would you know, how can you monitor it, and when it comes back active how would you know...

Tried endlessly to fish a cable down a soffit, can it be ran along the fascia instead?

As title suggests, I've tried and tried to get my cable rods down the soffit to run a cable from one spotlight to the next, can't get through because of support beams etc. in the way. I know it'd be ideal to house the cable inside the soffit but taking the fascia and soffit off would be a big...

    255V measured instead of 240V

Hello while 255V seems to be a normal voltage for low voltage networks it causes issues to my solar installation where the inverter works up to 240V. Any idea why Western Power increased the voltage?
