DIY query
Have narrowed down the source of an occasional trip to one light circuit which is a varilight v-pro master dimmer slave set up.
This is one of 5 LED, low total wattage light circuits connected to one 6A RCBO breaker (so the issue could be a short or a ground leak). Zero problems...
GFCI green light is lit when not under power draw. The bidet seat functioning causes light to pulse yellow (and creates a pulsing and knocking noise) but switch does not trip off. Green light returns when power is not drawn. The bidet seat is fully functioning and draws power normally when...

Hi folks,
Can anyone recommend a reliable brand for emergency lighting bulkheads please? I have a job coming up to replace 30 odd units.
I have used JCC in the past, to my cost as they had a high failure rate within the 1st couple of years. I've had good experiences with Ansell products but...
Hi guys, hope all is well.
Getting hallway and stairs replastered/skimmed, do the light switches/light fittings need removing altogether for it to be replastered or is it a case of simply just unscrewing the fronts?
I know they might be silly question to some but just want to make sure.
Thank you
Hi,
I do basic electrical DIY like changing light fittings and have got a light to put up that only has a fly earth and no flex earth (see pic).
I’ll be buying a junction box but just wondering why I’ve no flex earth?
Do I just use the fly in the junction box alone?
TIA
Hi Guys
We 'have to' fit couple of these on a job in new year, hate them !
Anyone found any easy ones to fit ? Maybe have a that come with bracket that screws into the wall first, would be nice.
Don't have to be plaster either as long as white will be fine.
Cheers Sy
As you can see what I have is a right mess, IAM wanting to put a new switch on , but every thing I try either leaves one or two light not working.

Hi, DIY’er here.
I need a replacement transformer but can’t find the exact model required anywhere.
It is Golden Power GP-SW120DC0700(UK)
Input/Pri - 220V-240V - 50/60Hz
Output/Sec - 12V - 700mA 8.4W
Please can anyone help or suggest an alternative model that may work.

Hi,
Some advice would be appreciated…
I have 4 downlights in the bathroom and want to add a motion sensor to turn on just one if everything is off.
If I turn on the light switch I want all 4 to come on until it’s turned off again.
Thanks,
Shane

Hi all,
Having some trouble working out how to change this lightbulb. Videos of similar units suggest you should be able to unscrew the white rim - it does turn but just rotates and won’t come loose (it's very, very tight). I’ve included a pic of the bulk of the unit wedged in the ceiling - do...
Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's permitted to replace an outside wall light myself if I use the existing wiring from the old light. In theory I just need to fix new light to wall and connect the wires to the terminals. I had assumed this would be ok because I'm not adding additional wiring. To me...
I am not an electrician but am looking for some advice as to how to fix my sporadic light flickering problem that has come and gone for the year and a half I have lived in my house

Hello, I’m trying to change a pendent light, I’ve wired it the same as the previous light that was on there however the light is now permanently on and the switch does not work, there are two line wires tied together, two neutrals and an earth wire. I took off the new pendent light and I wired...
Hello
I have a picture light that takes a 221mm bulb, but the attachments to hold the bulb broke off years ago. Any advice as to where to find the required parts to hold a bulb, or could I rewire in a new bulb holder, and if so, any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Rob
Hi all,
I was thinking to add some lights like in the attached image, basically twin batten lights to my attic but i'm not familiar with strip lights like this. Do you need to buy the cable that will link the two battens? OR do you get a short length and then can buy additional length cable...
Hello,
Behind a tiny door in our under stairs cupboard we’d like to build a miniature room in which a little light would come on when the door is opened.
The door is about 12cm high
No power so needs to be battery operated.
I thought about those PIR USB LED lights for cupboards which would...
